Small enough to fit under TV with limited space. Sounds very clear and perfect for dialog but also not sibilant or harsh. I had a another center channel costing almost 3 times as much and this is far better since it doesn’t cause any ear fatigue. If you don’t like harsh treble, but want to hear dialogue clearly, give this a try before you spend more money on something else. It has a back firing bass port so take that into account if you plan to place this center channel close to the wall in a small room or in a cabinet where it could sound a little bit ‘boomy’. This center channel will not win any prizes in the style department but it’s not un-attractive either. It’s just a blackish wooden box with some good speakers in it and for this price, I doubt there is much out there that can beat it. Read more

I purchased this to replace a perfectly fine Polk center channel speaker. The only reason I purchased this was because of how short the speaker was. My entertainment center only had space for a slim speaker and I chose this. My only complaint is I feel like the sound is a bit thin but not bad. I needed to tune my receiver a bit for this to project with a fuller sound. Otherwise it’s pretty decent for a basic home theater setup. I’m using this in a 5.1 system in a relatively small room with a low ceiling. For my setup it’s working well and I’m happy with my purchase. Read more

I bought this speaker for it’s thinner depth. Fits easily on top of my fireplace mantle without the front of the speaker hanging over the front to be cooked, like my original Sony center speaker in the location. Sound quality? Acceptable. With dual 3.5″ speakers in this box I don’t expect much low bass notes projection. But the treble definition is good enough for movie dialog. I’m breaking the speaker in as I write this with Radio Swiss Jazz streaming at a medium volume level. Using the neural THX setting on a high end Pioneer home theater receiver. Given the compromises of my living room space, necessary wife approval factor and budget, this low cost speaker is mid-fi done well. This Made in Malaysia box is solid. Screw terminal connectors are good quality. Fit and finish are CNC precision. I’ve always appreciated Yamaha quality. I’ve owned their guitars, guitar amps, record turntables, motorcycles, etc… I have a second simple 2 channel vintage Yamaha receiver in my garage that I use exclusively to listen to vinyl. Powers big Phase Technology speakers. I’m a musician, sometimes I get amazed by how good my cheap stereo sounds. And I’ve owned expensive hi-fi equipment in the past. Sanely got over that maddening gear acquisition syndrome disease and settled for simply enjoying music without worrying about the equipment used. This speaker gets the job done. No muss, no fuss. I have a Yamaha RX-V530 A/V receiver. I have had it for many years. It is great. No HDMI but I use optical lines for DVD/CD player and my smart TV. When you play music the center channel is not sent any input. With TV and movies I adjusted the center channel to “small” on my Yamaha RX-V530 and boosted it 2-3 DB. It seems to be working great. It’s small so it can be placed beneath the TV or in my case right above it. All my other speakers are Polk audio so I was going to buy Polk…..but for some reason I got this Yamaha. It is small, does a good job with voices, and high sounds in movies and TV. I have only been using it for 4 days and have adjusted it through the receiver but I am satisfied with it. for such a small speaker it seems to have good sound. It’s hard to tell with my large Polk floorstanding speakers and powered 10″ subwoofer. It has made a difference with hearing the voices and some high notes in movies and TV. EDIT: After one week of heavy use watching movies and TV shows with this Yamaha NS-C210 it has become apparent why the center channel connections are there. Voices and high sounds of many kinds are now very clear. I have found the overall volume on my receiver has come down 2 notches while watching movies and TV. I would recommend this speaker IF you watch a lot of movies and TV with a digital signal (5.1) or better. If you simply use your system for music forget about center channel. You don’t need it for music. Read more

I have originally implemented a true surround sound speakers configuration in my room. My old center speaker died out – so I searched for decent quality speaker that would not break my bank. Since I already had 2 floor Yamaha front speakers, this brand was considered. I have seen other center speakers weigh 100s of dollars, so I thought – they must be better! Thank gd i looked at their size – OMG – those things would require a while separate settings and cannot possibly be in front of my TV – they are HUGE! After deliberations I decided to take a change on this one – after all – if it fails me – Amazon has an easy for consumer return process. This speaker is a keeper! The moment I turned the sound system ON, this thing went LIVE and I had to crank the volume down. Wow! Very Happy – GO YAMAHA!! Read more

I personally am very satisfied with this center channel. I can clearly hear dialogue and sound effects with authority during movies. My wife has complained about not being able to hear clearly, and we used to turn on subtitles for her, but now she can hear very well. I’m setting the crossover frequency to 100 hz even though this center channel is rated down to 45 hz. Its power really drops off between 80 and 70 hz. That means a separate subwoofer will handle everything below 100 hz and free this center channel to handle the higher ranges which it does with ease. It does play down to 45 hz but it’s a whisper at that point. I’m not sure how it stacks up against a larger full size center channel, but it sounds great in my movie room. I think, to a point, technology has seen some advances in designing smaller speakers to deliver lower frequencies. The sound quality is fine to me, and my ears can’t tell that it’s not timbre matched with my Onkyo tower speakers. I’m very pleased with the purchase. Given the room I may have gone with a larger center with the aim of setting the crossover frequency at 60 hz, but this center works well. Read more
