This product is super simple to setup and sounds great. It is an entry level system but is a good value for the money. It made an instant improvement to my surround sound system. My only gripe is that the sub plugin in on the bottom. The speaker comes with a crappy cable with a right angle plug. My Mediabridge cable did not have a right angle plug and would not fit. I had to order a right angle adapter. That is the only thing I would like to have known in advance. The link for the adapter: Read more

I bought the Jamo to replace a Yamaha sub that was having problems. The Yamaha served me well but it was going so I was looking for an inexpensive alternative that would accommodate a small office. At this price point the Jamo is pretty impressive. Very tight bass and very loud considering it is a 8″ sub. I only use it for music so I can’t comment on how it would perform with movies, but for music it is awesome! Now I do feel it is a tad tight in it’s sound but hopefully it will break in and open up a little. But overall a nice compliment to my tower speakers and it cranks connected to my Yamaha RX-A550 receiver. The Jamo is also really nicely built for a 150 bucks…build quality was better than I expected. Solid construction and pretty heavy too so don’t think you’re getting something that isn’t substantial…this is a substantially built sub. Nice looking too that should fit any modern decor. Overall a great buy that I am quite happy with! Will look to buy more Jamo products in the future! Read more

First of all, this doesn’t have thunderous bass as some reviewers have eluded to. However, that should be obvious considering it’s a single 8″ woofer in a small box. That being said, it turned my towers into full sounding speakers, filling in some octaves they didn’t have. Also, this was my 2nd sub, I’m running 5.2.2 setup so my primary sub is a killer, this one was just meant to round out the bass in the room a little bit. I love that it’s only 7″ wide, it hides behind the TV well. The RCA cable and 90-degree elbow that come with it are complete junk. Do yourself a favor and buy an RCA cable and this (or similar) 90 degree RCA adapter: This little sub seems happiest between 70- 100 hz. It doesn’t like the deeper bass. During deep bass you get a lot of woofer movement but not much sound. It’s got more of a high bass (100hz) sound to it. It doesn’t compare to my 10″ main subwoofer, but I never intended it to. I wanted it to be out of sight and add a little bass from the opposite direction of my main sub. TLDR: if you know what you’re buying, it’s perfect. Don’t be fooled with ideas of grandeur as could happen from reading some other reviews that seem to elevate this to a level it is not and cannot be. Read more

Love this as a slim-line sub option. it’s a much better option than others in the $100-$150 price range (different colors might cost more than $150). The sound quality is fantastic. It adds a little something extra to movies and video games, but not so much for music. Then again, it’s not geared towards music lovers. Room placement is key – it takes some experimenting with the small, down-firing port on the back of the sub. If it was front firing, or even down-firing on the front, it would be a little bigger I think. If it wasn’t ported at all, it would be a much tighter response, but you lose some of the “boom”, especially with the small size of the woofer. It’s rated to reach down to 39Hz, which it does every bit of that. The difference between this 8-inch woofer and the 10-inch woofer option is marginal, so if you want to save a little money or you don’t need the bigger soundstage, this is a great option! Looks good and sounds good. Overall, I’m very happy! Read more

Makes a huge difference with the bass. I recommend using this bass in a 2.1 system. I have it connected to the Fosi BT30D 2.1 Channel amplifier, Bluetooth 5 ($89 3/1/2021). The amp controls both passive and active subwoofers. I have the bass dialed set slightly past 9 o’clock, 1/4 volume and it fills my office with plenty of bass (10’×14′). I’ve streamed a few movies after work and a week of Pandora radio with great satisfaction. No discernable difference in sound quality using BT or RCA. I’m using the Jamo s801’s. I also have the s803’s, but they are not necessary for a bedroom office. Saving them for a bigger space. The bass would do just fine for a smaller living room entertainment center. I do voice over recordings for work, and this setup is nice for that. I connect my Roku Ultra to my Android Roku app on my phone and use Bluetooth to the Fosi amp and sound system. Works great! In my living room I have a klipsch 15″ sub and reference surround system and the 15″ sub is not necessary. I’m considering selling it and using the Jamo 10″ sub. My living room less than 20′ ft in the longest direction. Read more
