kef r7

the r7 is the mid-sized floorstander in kef’s new r collection, very effective yet not too massive it brings music and movies to existence.

with a pair of 165mm (6. 5 in.) hybrid aluminium bass drivers and a uni-q combining a 125mm (five in.) midrange driving force and 25mm (1 in.) aluminium dome tweeter, r7 outperforms all expectancies.

the evolution of kef’s uni-q motive force reaches its twelfth generation in the r series. Using simulation and analysis equipment kef’s engineers have been capable of dramatically reduce colouration with the aid of reducing resonance in the tiny gaps between uni-q’s elements. The end result is purer and more specific sound with stronger imaging.

  • layout – three-manner bass reflex
  • crossover frequency – 400hz, 2. 9khz
  • frequency reaction – (±3db) 48hz – 28khz
  • most output – 110db
  • amplifier energy – 15 – 250w
  • nominal impedance – 8Ω (min. 3. 2Ω)
  • sensitivity (2. 83v/1m) – 88db
  • finishes: black gloss / white gloss / walnut
  • a stable platform is vital for splendid sound. The new r series benefits from restrained layer damping. This machine utilises internal braces joined by way of a ‘lossy’ interface and is pretty powerful at dissipating unwanted vibrations that might otherwise artificially change the sound and track.

the shadow flare is an modern manner to reduce dangerous high frequency cupboard diffraction. It is a carefully profiled transition that extends the waveguide impact of uni-q. The treble escapes naturally due to the fact the ‘shadow area’ stops it getting to the cupboard edges. The end result is vastly stepped forward fine detail.

r collection bass drivers have a two-part structure with a shallow concave aluminium skin atop a paper cone. Integrate this stiffness with the cone’s unique geometry and also you get close to pistonic movement for punch and speed. Kef has also increased linearity within the magnet gadget which means that more staggering and impactful bass.

in relation to producing deep, articulate bass, port design is crucial. The r collection ports have innovative bendy partitions. Using computational fluid dynamics the flare and profile of each port is calculated to delay the onset of turbulence and the bendy port partitions save you resonances from colouring the midrange.

    r begins with reference

the new kef r series has been completely re-engineered from the ground up. A long time of enjoy and our unbridled passion for song come collectively within the new r series. Combining innovations from the reference collection with bespoke technologies the brand new r collection offers more detail, deeper perception and more exhilaration.

1 review for Kef r7 floorstanding speaker (pair, gloss black) (r7bl)

Got the R7s from Amazon. Delivery was good and on time. Setting them up was fairly easy. Hooked them up to my Marantz. Music is very warm (or cool) and spacious. No fatigue at all. Bass is great. I guess I should mention that I’m only using them for stereo listening. I’d like to consider myself an audiophile. I’ve been searching for the perfect sound for a while; at my mid forties, I’m happy I found that perfect sound for a little over $10K (Marantz + Pro-Ject + KEF). I do hope to get the reference series someday in the next 5 years… If you’ve been thinking about getting these, but may have a little doubt about their performance – erase that doubt – get these. You’ll be happy… they ARE worth every penny! Read more
