  1. Danny

Hey, its Danny. I just had this delivered to the house, I’ll be home from Afghanistan in a few days so I thought I’d ship it home to try it out and if it can handle what I throw at it I’ll be shipping it out to Afghanistan for the crew to use! (UPDATE) Alright guys, Danny’s back! I left the first ever review on this bad boy and its time for my update. This speaker is taking everything ive thrown at it. Ive had it blairing on the flightline in Afghanistan as jets take off and ive had it on the boat back in Tennessee, Ive had it playing quietly on the desk and Weve had it outside the helicopter while were doing maintenance and it just makes a better day, the battery would make the energizer bunny jealous. The speaker gets used about 10 hours a day ( usually has about 50% to 25% charge left) and i keep it charged regularly. So far the battery shows no sign of degradation. Its been doused in water countless times and has been left to cook in the heat. I carry it twice a day in my back pack about a half mile to my bunk, 20 lbs aint nothin. I have had 0 connection issues, 0 battery issues, and no set backs. Volume down low its crisp and clean, ive only ever had to turn it up to 70% volume ( work in a crazy loud environment and it stands up to the task) and it just spools power and remains crystal clear, no distortion ( tons of bass up loud). I am probably the first owner of this speaker and if youre looking for a great speaker for the money id stop looking and get it!!! Also its very dusty out here in the mountains of Afghanistan and it being ip67 i have no issues with dust getting in, when it needs cleaning i just spray the hose over it and shes good to go. (1 YEAR UPDATE) Alrighty, I’ve had this speaker since it was first released, it performs as well as the day I bought it, it has a few dents in the screen, a few nicks and scratches but they’re all battle scars, it’s as waterproof as advertised still, all the gaskets, lights, buttons, and speakers are perfectly in tact. Even the printing on the buttons is still like new. The sound quality is amazing and it has become a part of the team in Afghanistan, we dont go out without it! 1.5 years. Still going strong folks. I paid over $200 for it when it was first released and it was worth every penny. I use it alot more than it may have been intended but it has had absolutely no issues. I have gotten it to full volume a few times out on the flight line and to put it into prospective, I have walked into the hanger ~ 600 ft away and could still make out what song was playing easily, In a somewhat calm environment. This can handle any back yard get together. I’d like to add that this speaker has had around 20-30 people sync their phones to it with no issues( many different types of phones & brands) Read more

This speaker can handle it all. 4 months in. Out kayaking in ocean yaks. And to myrtle beach, literally in the ocean blaring music. Gets sand on it. . . Just washing it off with the hose. It does float and it does have a awesome tune time. Lasted all day at the beach from 9am till 10 pm when we were done fishing . On vol 9. Also the speaker can link with different exogear speakers. Great speaker for the lake, beach, house, kayaking , and fishing Read more

I work in a very loud Die Cast Foundry and need a loud speaker. This is advertised as 100 watt speaker. It is not. It’s a 50watt speaker according to the specs on the back of the speakers. It does not cut it. The guy say he could hear it with helicopters running must have Superman’s hearing. No way. Especially if its connected through bluetooth. I get half volume when connected through bluetooth, so I use a AUX. cord. As stated it still doesn’t cut it so basically I have a huge heavy paper weight. Update: Not even 5 days and it dosen’t work. Returning. Read more

If you brought your regular old pickup truck to race at a drag strip, you may be disappointed. If you ran a marathon in hiking boots, you will likely be disappointed (and sore). If you played your Casio keyboard next to a Steinway piano, you’ll probably be disappointed. These things, when compared to similar items in different classes, could leave you feeling disappointed. But they all have a role. Utility, ruggedness, portability; all good qualities in and of themselves. And that is the EcoTrek. It serves a particular role really well but by no means excels if you’re judging it in the wrong context. What’s the right context, you ask? Think beach, lake, boat, cornhole, BBQ, tailgating, etc. In a word: ‘Murica! In that context, this is a great speaker. Sound quality is, well, meh. But when was the last time you cared about sound quality at a pig roast? That white noise hissing sound when Bluetooth is connected might as well be the ocean waves crashing. And the wonky battery meter (is it fully charged? is it not?) doesn’t really matter when 30-50 hours of use easily gets you through the weekend to that last Sunday night gin & tonic. This thing isn’t perfect, but it does what it’s supposed to do well. So don’t be too critical of the EcoTrek. Admittedly, I was disappointed at first (I even exchanged the first one I got); it has flaws just like you and me. But the next time you’re on the lake floating next to this thing while pounding a 30-rack of Bud with a pal, you’ll know you made the right choice. So go grab some friends, the horseshoes and get that bonfire going. Then grab this bad boy and let it do it’s thing. Read more

The first time I used it for the weekend and it quit working and I’m having to jump through hoops to get it fixed the seller says they won’t do anything because it’s over 30 days and the asurion protection plan won’t start until the manufactures warranty is out and the manufacturer said they would send me an e-mail of where I have to ship it to but the e-mail was blank. I spent over 2 hrs on the phone and am still right where I started. Read more
