I’ve had numerous portable speakers over the years and I’d consider myself a bit of an audiophile. I have always preferred JBL products for my portable speakers although I have owned multiple branded audio equipment, I’ve never been disappointed with their speakers (however a built in EQ would be a nice additional feature but I do have the Equalizer + Music Player EQ Amp App) from the Flip line of speakers that I’ve given as presents, the Extreme and Charge speakers and all of them have given the recipients and myself a lot of reliable, great sounding playback of different types of music. And now my most recent purchase is the Boombox 2 (I went with a refurbished speaker for the first time) based on the reviews and convenient features i.e.- waterproof design, 24 hrs. of play time, I can charge my iPod/iPhone as a powerbank, connectivity with other listeners on bluetooth , etc. And I can say that 40w per channel has never sounded better. JBL has always hadvery good bass with their drivers and passive radiators but this thing thumps and the overall sound quality is impressive at ALL volume levels. I know that there are other very good portable speakers out there and a lot of people are pretty passionate about which one is best in their eyes. But for me , I’ll keep buying JBL brand speakers and pissing off the neighbors when I’m in the backyard swimming, doing yard work, or whatever else that I’m doing because I always have music going while doing it. I highly recommend the JBL Boombox 2 and I don’t think that you can go wrong getting one of your own.Read more

I bought the original JBL boombox but I did not like how much base was provided with it. After returning it I bought this JBL boombox 2 and the base is incredible. I highly recommend this boombox to anyone.Read more

Do your research and then hit Best Buy to listen to them all. I bought the BB2 and went back later to see (wrong way to do things). I read lots of reviews and watched a TON of YouTube reviews. In the portable/outdoor market it really boils down to the BB2 and Hyperboom. Upon my visit to Best Buy I tried the BB2 vs… PB 100, PB 300, UE Hyperboom and the Sony lineup. Sony sucked! The PB 100 and PB 300 are rather big and not so portable. I’m sure they will be a boost above the BB2 and Hyperboom if it works for you. I wanted portable/easy transport with good sound, so I left the store with a Hyperboom. When I got home my Wife and I listened to both switching back and forth between Hyperboom and BB2. She kept saying the BB2 sounded better and more detailed (just like most reviews). It also hit lower and I agree it sounded better. The frequency response shows the BB2 hits 20k hZ to 45 hZ and you can hear the difference. The compression on the BB2 is a little more on the high end versus the Hyperboom, but still seems to sound better. I’m returning the Hyperboom and keeping the BB2! Do yourself a favor and play Against All Odds by Phil Collins. It will show you which one is the best easily!!Read more

Best bluetooth player I have had. Abusotly better then the ue, soundcore, and a few others I have owned. I had 2 races hooked up and the jbl had way better bass and clarity, but max volume went to the 2 ravens hooked together but who likes distortion? Not me. Only wish they had something just as good but on a slightly bigger scale without going all the way up to the $1000 plus scall.Read more

The Boombox 2 feels like it’s a quality piece but that’s it. It sounds awful! I would not recommend buying it unless you can test it first. It’s very likely I am returning it.**edit**5/14/2021I will be returning it. The name says it all. It sounds exactly like a boombox. It is not worth $500. This should be priced around $200 to reflect the awful sound quality. I chose the Boombox due to its water proof and durability features; for camping. With the money saved, I will now be going with 2 Aiwa Exos-3.Read more
