Full disclosure, I was given this radio with the vendor hoping I would write a review. Given that, this is my honest review. This is a small multifunction radio that stands about 4 inches tall ( antenna retracted and secured, and strap handle folded), 7 inches wide and 3 inches deep. The functions:Radio function in general: The tuning knob is quite stiff, making accurate tuning difficult. The speaker is small, about 2 inches in diameter. It does not give you a high fidelity sound, however you can hear voice communication and music well enough. There is plenty of volume for a residential room. I am in a small bedroom listening to a local FM country radio station with the volume turned to about 25% of the dial rotation and it is louder than face to face voice communication.AM radio – It seems sensitive enough, as I pick up lots of stations. The selectivity doesn’t seem great as it was difficult to tune any station in well and not be interfered with by an adjacent station. I don’t listen to alot of AM radio so can’t give a good evaluation of this particular function.FM radio: This radio seems sensitive enough to listen to our local stations. It seemed a little difficult to tune in a station so it was clear, but the local stations were good enough. The dial is not very accurate as there are no graduation marks on it, but the frequencies are written on about every 4 Mhz, so was possible to find the desired station.SW radio: I was not able to receive many clear SW stations. Neither happened to be in English, my only language, so I did not spend any time listening to it.WB radio: The weather band does not need to tuned with the tuning knob. There is a 7-position switch to select one of seven weather bands. I could only receive the seventh station. It worked reasonably well. I could understand the information being received. There are numerous ways for the device to be powered: built in rechargeable lithium ion (li-ion) battery, disposable AAA batteries, had crank, solar, and micro USB. There is a slide switch to switch between the AAA batteries and the li-ion power source. I have not tried anything but the li-ion power source yet. I believe the other three power sources: hand crank, solar, and micro usb are connected to the li-ion batteries and effectively charge that battery and power the radio.I believe it also powers its type A USB connector so you can charge your phone or whatever from its internal battery. I don’t know if it powers this connector from the AAA batteries. There is a flashlight beam on one end of the radio and a more diffuse “reading light” that folds out behind the tiny solar panel. These both have two different brightness levelsThere is also an emergency function that flashes a very bright red led and emits siren sound. It is very loud in a small room which I learned unexpectedly. It also came with a small carabiner and small compass attached to the handle.Would I buy this? I live in Florida, hurricane country. I believe this could come in handy if we happen to lose power some time, so yes as part of my hurricane preparedness I would buy this radio. I suppose you might also take it along on a camping trip. There are quite a few similar devices on Amazon, and I have not evaluated the value of this device compared to any of the other ones, so I can’t say it’s a good deal or not.Read more

I spent a lot of time looking at all the similar products at Amazon and I finally took a chance and ordered this one. And it was the right choice. This is a well-designed and well-built radio and all the right features are present. I live in California and it is important to have all the emergency kits ready for when the earthquake or fires will get to you and this radio is an important component for the emergency kit. The radio works well and the volume is very powerful. I like that the tuning is done with a rotating button as it allows a better fine tuning. Also SW and weather channels are available in addition of FM and AM. The multiple ways to power the device, multiple light option, siren, compass and the compact size are also a neat feature. There is more to say but in short, I will recommend this device for anybody that want to be ready in case of emergency or simply when spending time in the outdoors.Read more

Iโ€™ve always been a moderate prepper, but with the coronavirus on the loose I decided my house was in need of a nice solar NOAA radio. I donโ€™t think the coronavirus was going to kill our electric, but you never know when you might need a radio anyways, so good as time as any to get one.I tested all of the functionality on it and it seems very durable. My favorite part about this is there is 4 ways to power it: batteries (yours), solar to charge the internal 2000 mAh, crank to charge the internal 2000 mAh, and charging with mini USB (included cable) What this means is you have the ability to charge this radio under a variety of circumstances which is always good for emergencies. It has an excellent and very loud SOS noise; a good reading light, a good flashlight, an accurate compass and a halfway decent sounding FM/AM/WB radio.I liked it so much that I bought a second for my car.So yeah, you could say I like this stupid little bright colored radio.Read more

What I like.Size, small compact and lightSpeaker clear at low volume, gets over driven above about 1/4 volume. (Remember you don’t get stereo with one speaker so don’t expect it). This is not a BOOM Box, just good room level volume listening.Sensitivity is good, I live in a rural area, and get FM stations more than 60 miles away, and lots of stations.AM radio is typical AM reception, less crisp, and fades in and out. (not the radio, just the nature of AM)Solar panel indicates charging in shade or better during natural daylight. What is missing,No head phone jack, it would be nice to have private listening option. It would also be good to have a LED come on when a station is at peak signal strength. Because the radio is so small with an analog dial, sweeping the dial looking for a station is an exercise in very fine tuning. the dial could be smoother to improve station centering. It does work but could be smoother.Color options; I would like to see it with a more subdued natural color set option O.D., Khaki, Coyote brown, Desert tan etc.Read more
